Fault Lines & Emergence starts from a simple conviction: these fractures are not accidents. They are the symptom of a deeper mismatch — between the speed of technological, cognitive and geopolitical change, and the capacity of human systems to adapt to it. But a fault line is never only a rupture. It is also, almost always, the place where something new begins to reorganize itself. Hence the second word in the title: emergence.
This newsletter analyzes and decodes what contemporary mutations produce in human behavior, power structures, modes of cooperation and mechanisms of regulation. It’s a more personal, more editorial, at times more opinionated reading of the world we act, decide and cooperate in.
Each week takes a different shape: an essay that builds a thesis and takes a position; a shorter “Signal” that starts from a current fact, a study, or a statement and pulls a systemic reading out of it; or a conversation with an executive, a researcher, an expert — always run through the same question: what does this reveal about human systems?

First at IBM in the late 1980s, then as editor-in-chief of a leading IT industry publication, as an advisor to executives and boards for over twenty years, and today as founder of Human Dynamics Group®, a research and advisory institute dedicated to studying human discernment, governance and cooperation in technologically accelerated systems.
